Veteran Bollywood actor Annu Kapoor has alleged that late actor Om Puri deceived his sister and caused irreparable damage to her life.
According to Indian media reports, Kapoor made the remarks during a recent interview in which he reflected on Puri’s personal life alongside acknowledging his exceptional acting talent.
“Om Puri was a brilliant actor there is no one like him but he deceived a woman he married, and I am that woman’s brother,” Kapoor said.
He claimed that his sister, Seema Kapoor, had cared for Puri during difficult periods of his life, adding that the late actor returned to her when he was unwell and vulnerable.
Kapoor said he had been upset with his sister for taking Puri back despite past grievances, expressing regret over what he described as the impact on her life.
He added that he harbours no ill will, noting that he continues to pray for Puri’s son and his former wife Nandita Puri.
Seema Kapoor and Om Puri were married in 1990, but the marriage lasted only eight months. Puri later married journalist Nandita Puri. Om Puri passed away in 2017 at the age of 66 after suffering a heart attack.
