The Federal Constitutional Court of Pakistan (FCCP) observed Earth Day on Monday, reaffirming its commitment to environmental stewardship and underscoring the need to protect natural resources for present and future generations.
In a statement issued on the occasion, the Court highlighted that, in line with this year’s global theme, both institutions and individuals share a collective responsibility to adopt sustainable practices and raise environmental awareness. It emphasized that eco-friendly measures are being gradually integrated into its operational framework, including efficient resource utilization, reduction in paper consumption, and promotion of a green and responsible workplace culture.
Honourable Chief Justice Mr. Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan stated that environmental protection is not only a global necessity but also a constitutional and moral obligation. He encouraged citizens to adopt environmentally responsible habits in their homes and daily routines.
He further observed that safeguarding the environment is closely linked with public welfare, justice, and the rule of law, adding that such occasions serve as an important reminder of shared responsibilities, whether working from offices or remotely.
The FCCP reiterated its commitment to supporting national and international efforts aimed at combating climate change and preserving ecological balance in line with Pakistan’s environmental goals and global commitments.
