Court suspends hearings at principal seat over red zone closure

The Federal Constitutional Court of Pakistan has announced that no judicial proceedings will be conducted at its Principal Seat in Islamabad on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, in view of the closure of the Red Zone and expected difficulties for lawyers, litigants, and court staff.

According to an official notification, the decision has been taken by the Hon’ble Chief Justice in exercise of powers under Rule 5 of Order II of the Supreme Court Rules, 2025.

The court further stated that as a consequence, the cause list issued for April 22, 2026, stands cancelled.

However, the notification clarified that all officers and staff have been directed to continue performing their duties from home and remain available at their respective stations.

It added that all four Branch Registries of the court will remain functional and will continue judicial and administrative work as per routine without interruption.
