Senior Pakistani actor Firdous Jamal has once again stirred controversy after making critical remarks about several veteran artists during a recent podcast, triggering debate within showbiz circles.
During the conversation, Firdous Jamal shared his views on some of the industry’s most respected names. Speaking about Abid Ali, he described him as a performer of a particular style and said he was “adequate” in terms of acting.
He went on to label Talat Hussain as a conventional actor, using the term “cheap theatricality” to describe his performances a remark that has drawn sharp reactions.
Commenting on Qavi Khan, he said the late actor was good within his own domain of expertise. Referring to Shafi Muhammad, he termed him a simple individual, adding that he essentially portrayed himself on screen rather than acting.
Firdous Jamal also offered a harsh assessment of Rahat Kazmi, calling him merely a “showpiece” and alleging a lack of talent.
The remarks have sparked mixed reactions on social media and among industry figures. While some have defended his comments as personal opinion, many have criticised them as disrespectful towards legendary artists.
