Attock refinery halts unit amid Islamabad restrictions

Attock Refinery Limited has announced a temporary shutdown of its main crude distillation unit due to operational disruptions caused by traffic restrictions in the federal capital.

According to a company statement, the movement of oil tankers has been severely affected following road closures imposed in Islamabad amid the arrival of foreign delegations. This has significantly disrupted the supply of crude oil and the dispatch of refined petroleum products.

The refinery said the restrictions have led to a sharp decline in crude oil receipts, while inventories of motor spirit and high-speed diesel have accumulated due to limited transportation.

As a result of these constraints, the refinery has shut down its main crude distillation unit, which has a capacity of 32,400 barrels per day. The unit will remain offline until traffic conditions improve.

The company has also formally informed the Pakistan Stock Exchange about the development.
