Amid an ongoing debate in Bollywood over work-life balance, actress Kangana Ranaut has voiced support for Deepika Padukone following her reported demand for an eight-hour work shift.
The discussion gained momentum after Deepika Padukone, who recently embraced motherhood, reportedly stepped away from two film projects while requesting a reduced work schedule.
Speaking during a podcast interview, Kangana Ranaut said the issue should not be exaggerated, noting that Deepika has reached a stage in her career where she can set her own professional terms.
“She is now a mother and has family responsibilities. If she wants to work eight hours, it is her right,” Kangana said, emphasizing the importance of personal priorities.
Actor Rani Mukerji has also come out in support of Deepika’s stance, backing the call for more balanced working conditions in the film industry.
Reflecting on past industry practices, Kangana recalled that actresses earlier worked 12 to 14 hours a day due to their drive to succeed. However, she noted that circumstances differ for newcomers and established stars.
“For emerging artists, the situation is different as they are more replaceable, while for senior and successful actors like Deepika, priorities evolve especially with family responsibilities,” she added.
Deepika Padukone is expected to appear alongside Shah Rukh Khan in the upcoming film King, while Kangana Ranaut is currently engaged in preparations for her international project.
