Pakistan makes strong start at South Asian Ju-Jitsu Championship

Pakistan delivered a commanding start at the South Asian Ju-Jitsu Championship 2026, securing multiple gold and silver medals on the opening day of the regional competition being held in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The championship is underway at the Digana Sports Complex, where athletes from across South Asia are competing in various categories. Pakistani competitors stood out with a strong performance across duo, fighting, and ne-waza events.

In the duo classic category, Muhammad Ali Rashid and Muhammad Yousuf Ali clinched the gold medal, while in the mixed duo category, Muhammad Ali Rashid and Isra Wasim also secured gold for Pakistan.
In the women’s duo event, Kainat Arif and Isra Wasim won the silver medal, whereas in another mixed duo category, Rishal Khan and Muhammad Abdullah Ali added another silver to Pakistan’s tally.

In the fighting and ne-waza divisions, Pakistani athletes continued their impressive run. Kainat Arif secured gold in the minus-57kg category, while Vishal claimed silver in the minus-48kg category.

In the girls’ under-18 duo team event, Zunaira Zulfiqar and Sundas Ali won gold, further strengthening Pakistan’s medal count. In the under-16 category, Sundas Ali and Muhammad Abdullah Ali secured a silver medal.

Pakistan Ju-Jitsu Federation Chairman Khalil Ahmed Khan praised the team’s performance, saying the 11-member squad displayed exceptional skill, discipline, and preparation despite limited resources.

Team manager and Secretary General Tariq Ali also expressed satisfaction over the opening-day results, stating that the athletes demonstrated strong commitment and determination, with expectations of even better results in the coming days of the championship.
