Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held separate telephone conversations with the foreign ministers of Japan and Portugal, focusing on the evolving regional situation.
During his call with Japan’s Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi, both sides discussed developments in the Middle East and the broader regional landscape in detail. According to official sources, the two leaders expressed concern over rising tensions and stressed the need for immediate de-escalation.
Ishaq Dar reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to peace and stability in the region, stating that Pakistan will continue to support all efforts aimed at reducing tensions and achieving lasting peace. The Japanese foreign minister appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting peace and expressed support for efforts to advance dialogue and diplomacy. Both sides agreed to maintain close contact going forward.
In a separate conversation, Ishaq Dar spoke with Portugal’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Paulo Rangel. The two exchanged views on the changing regional situation and emphasized the importance of reducing tensions promptly.
Dar highlighted Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to promote peace and stability, while the Portuguese side acknowledged and appreciated Pakistan’s role in encouraging dialogue and diplomatic engagement, extending full support to these initiatives.
Both sides also expressed satisfaction over the positive trajectory of bilateral relations between Pakistan and Portugal and agreed to strengthen cooperation across areas of mutual interest, while underscoring the importance of sustained high-level engagement and continued communication.
