Australian cricketer Steve Smith joined the light-hearted dressing room culture by referring to teammate Peter Siddle as “chacha” during a post-match interaction.
The moment came after Multan Sultans secured a victory over Islamabad United, when Smith and Siddle were speaking following the game. At the start of the conversation, Smith greeted by saying, “Hi Steve and chacha,” adding that Siddle is popularly known by that nickname here.
Both players were seen smiling and sharing a light moment after the remark.
The nickname “chacha” was first associated with Siddle during the Big Bash League, when Haris Rauf began calling him by the term. Siddle had recently expressed amusement over the nickname during a media interaction, even referring to himself as a “foreign chacha” while calling Iftikhar Ahmed the “local chacha.”
Both Smith and Siddle expressed satisfaction over Multan Sultans’ continued success and their position at the top of the points table.
Siddle said winning the toss again proved beneficial, adding that opting to bowl first worked well this time. Smith praised the team’s bowling performance, highlighting contributions from spinners and noting that the opposition could have posted a bigger total.
He added that the chase was well executed, crediting strong partnerships. Siddle also lauded Smith’s consistent performances, saying he rarely disappoints, and appreciated his partnership with Farhan.
Smith further praised Shan Masood, saying the captain is improving with every game and possesses strong shot-making ability, waiting patiently for the right deliveries.
