Renowned American golfer Tiger Woods was briefly taken into custody in the US state of Florida following a road accident that allegedly caused property damage, international media reported.
According to reports, the 50-year-old golfer is also facing allegations of failing to undergo required testing after the crash. Authorities said the incident occurred when Woods was reportedly overtaking a truck at high speed, resulting in his vehicle overturning.
Officials stated that the golfer managed to exit the vehicle through a window after it flipped over.
However, it remains unclear whether he was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
Media reports further said that Woods was later shifted to a local jail, where he spent a few hours before undergoing a DUI (driving under the influence) test. He was subsequently released from custody.
The development comes amid ongoing media attention surrounding Woods’ personal life, including reported links with individuals connected to former US President Donald Trump’s family.
Authorities have yet to release further details, and investigations into the incident are said to be ongoing, according to foreign media sources.
