A gripping wrestling finale in Faisalabad saw Pakistan Army’s Gulzar, popularly known as Gullu Butt, overpower WAPDA’s Adnan Taraan Wala to clinch the prestigious Rustam-e-Pakistan title.
The much-anticipated bout drew a large crowd, with spectators cheering throughout as both wrestlers displayed strength, technique and endurance. Gulzar, however, maintained control in the decisive moments to secure victory and the coveted title.
According to organisers, the winner was awarded a cash prize of Rs500,000, while the runner-up received Rs300,000.
Earlier, the event featured around 20 bouts involving renowned wrestlers from across the country, turning the occasion into a vibrant celebration of traditional kushti. The matches kept the audience engaged, with fans applauding the participants for their skill and competitive spirit.
The Rustam-e-Pakistan dangal once again highlighted the enduring popularity of wrestling in Punjab, particularly in Faisalabad, where such events continue to attract strong public interest and revive cultural sporting traditions.
