The Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDC) has announced a significant gas discovery at the Sahtu-1 well in Khairpur district, Sindh, marking another milestone amid the ongoing oil and gas crisis.
According to the company spokesperson, the well is currently producing 17.2 million cubic feet of gas per day. Drilling at Sahtu-1 began in December 2025, reaching a depth of 3,870 meters before the discovery.
The new find is expected to ease Pakistan’s energy shortage and reduce reliance on imported fuel, contributing to greater domestic energy security. OGDC’s consistent exploration successes continue to strengthen the country’s efforts to address the energy crisis.
