The Federal Government of Pakistan has introduced a mobile application to provide petrol subsidies for low-income citizens, enabling them to purchase fuel at reduced rates.
According to sources, the app, developed by the Ministry of Information Technology, is currently in the testing phase and will soon be launched for public use.
Under the initiative, petrol subsidies will be offered for two- and three-wheeler vehicles, while price increases in the global market will continue to affect other consumers. For motorcycles, a monthly quota of 20 liters has been proposed, though a decision regarding users of vehicles above 800cc is still pending.
The program plans to equip 12,000 petrol pumps nationwide with dedicated subsidy nozzles. Each pump will also receive two mobile devices, which will be used to distribute petrol through the app, ensuring a controlled and efficient system for delivering subsidized fuel.
