Egyptian football star Mohamed Salah has announced that he will leave Liverpool FC at the end of the ongoing season, bringing an end to a highly successful spell with the English Premier League club.
According to Arab media outlet Al Jazeera, the club in an official statement said Salah informed fans of his decision in a timely manner to maintain transparency and respect for supporters.
The 33-year-old forward, in a video message shared on social media, described Liverpool as an important part of his life, saying he shares a deep emotional bond with the club, the city and its fans.
He added that both the triumphs and challenging moments with the team would always remain memorable.
Salah joined Liverpool in 2017 from Italian side AS Roma and quickly established himself as one of the greatest players in the club’s history.
During his time at Anfield, Liverpool secured multiple major honours including two Premier League titles, the UEFA Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FA Cup, two League Cups and the Community Shield.
Salah scored 255 goals in 435 appearances for the club, making him the third-highest goal scorer in Liverpool’s history, while also winning the Premier League Golden Boot four times.
Reports suggest that he is being linked with a possible move to clubs in the Saudi Pro League, though no official announcement regarding his next destination has been made so far.
