OGDCL starts oil production from Pasakhi-13 well in Sindh

The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has commenced oil production from the Pasakhi-13 well located in Sindh’s Hyderabad district, marking a significant development in the country’s upstream energy sector.

According to details, the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has successfully brought online Pakistan’s first horizontal oil well, which is currently producing around 460 barrels of crude oil per day.

Officials said the well was drilled to a depth of 2,966 metres, while a 546-metre sidetrack was executed using advanced drilling technology to enhance reservoir access and productivity.

They added that the adoption of modern drilling techniques has resulted in nearly three times higher output compared to conventional methods used in similar formations.

Energy experts say the project is expected to contribute to improved domestic oil production and help strengthen Pakistan’s overall energy supply position.

The development is being viewed as a positive step towards adopting advanced exploration technologies in the country’s oil and gas sector, potentially opening avenues for further horizontal drilling projects in the future.
