PM Shehbaz chairs security, energy review amid regional developments

A high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is currently underway to review the evolving situation in the Middle East, the energy crisis and other national security matters.

According to official sources, the meeting at the Prime Minister’s House is focusing on regional security developments and their potential implications for Pakistan. The discussions include an assessment of the situation following recent reported developments involving Iran and the United States, as well as broader instability in the Middle East.

Officials said the energy crisis and related domestic challenges are also under consideration as part of the government’s wider policy response to global and regional pressures.

Sources further indicated that the possibility of Pakistan playing a mediating role or hosting efforts related to regional conflict resolution was also discussed during the meeting.

In a separate development, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to meet President Asif Ali Zardari later in the evening to discuss key political and security issues.

The consultations come amid heightened diplomatic activity as Pakistan monitors rapidly changing geopolitical dynamics in the region.
