Pakistan storm into Women’s Asia Cup Rising Stars semi-finals

Pakistan booked a place in the semi-finals of the Women’s Asia Cup Rising Stars after defeating the United Arab Emirates women’s national cricket team in a one-sided encounter in Bangkok on Tuesday.

After winning the toss, Pakistan opted to field first and restricted UAE to 79 all out in 17.2 overs. The UAE batting line-up struggled to build partnerships, with Thiratha Satish top-scoring with 32 runs and Renitha Rajith contributing 14.

Pakistan’s bowlers shared the spoils, with Anosha Nasir claiming three wickets and Hafsa Khalid picking up two. Waheeda Akhtar, Omaima Sohail, Momina Riasat and Gul Rukh chipped in with one wicket each to dismantle the UAE innings.

Chasing a modest target of 80, Pakistan achieved the total comfortably in 11 overs for the loss of just one wicket. Shawal Zulfiqar remained unbeaten on 38, while Hurraina Sajjad scored an unbeaten 26. Iman Naseer added 12 runs before being dismissed.

The two semi-finals of the tournament will be played on February 20. India will face the winner of the ongoing match between Sri Lanka and Thailand in the first semi-final, while Pakistan will take on Bangladesh in the second semi-final.
