Former Lt. Gen. Faiz Hameed sentenced to 14 years for multiple misconduct charges

The Field General Court Martial has sentenced Faiz Hameed, the former Lieutenant General of the Pakistan Army, to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment for multiple charges, including engaging in political activities and violating the Official Secrets Act.

According to a statement from the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of Pakistan Army, the court’s decision, promulgated on December 11, 2025, follows a protracted legal process that commenced on August 12, 2024, lasting 15 months.

Hameed faced four specific charges during the court proceedings: participating in political activities, actions detrimental to state safety under the Official Secrets Act, misuse of government authority and resources, and causing injury to individuals. Following comprehensive deliberations and legal evaluations, the court found him guilty on all counts.

The military tribunal ensured that Hameed was accorded all the legal rights necessary for a fair trial, including access to a defense team of his choice. This sentence marks a significant move within the military justice system, reflecting growing concerns over the politicization of military officials in Pakistan.

Moreover, additional inquiries are underway regarding Hameed’s alleged involvement in promoting political unrest in collaboration with various political factions. He retains the right to appeal the court’s decision through the appropriate legal channels.
