Defending champions Pakistan Army continued their dominance at the 35th National Games in Karachi, securing victories across multiple events, officials said.
In the women’s squash team event, Pakistan Army defeated Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 2-1 in the final to claim the gold medal. Army’s Faiza Zafar defeated Saharish Ali 3-0, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Mahnoor Ali beat Sana Bahadur 3-0. Army’s Zainab Khan clinched the decisive win over Alisha 3-0. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa took silver, while Punjab and Balochistan shared bronze medals.
Earlier, Pakistan Army’s Qasim Faiz won the 20-kilometer walk race, completing the distance in 1 hour, 28 minutes, and 12.2 seconds. WAPDA’s Muhammad Waqas took silver, and Army’s Adnan Moazz earned bronze.
In the men’s 800-meter race held at PNS Karsaz National Physical Training and Sports Centre, Pakistan Army’s Waqas Akbar claimed gold with a time of 1 minute 49.82 seconds. HEC’s Samiullah secured silver in 1 minute 51.50 seconds, while Osama Azam of HEC won bronze in 1 minute 51.95 seconds.
In the women’s 5-kilometer walk race, WAPDA’s Amara won gold with a timing of 34.12 seconds. Sindh’s Mahnoor finished second to claim silver, and Pakistan Army’s Kanwal Faiz took bronze in 34.17 seconds.
