WAPDA’s Samiullah Khan, Faiqa Riaz crowned Pakistan’s fastest athletes

WAPDA athletes Samiullah Khan and Faiqa Riaz have been declared Pakistan’s fastest man and woman, respectively, after an intense 100-meter race at the National Games on Tuesday.

In the men’s 100-meter final, Samiullah Khan crossed the finish line in 10.30 seconds, clinching the title of Pakistan’s fastest male athlete. Army’s Usman and Rashid Riaz took the silver and bronze medals.

In the women’s 100-meter race, WAPDA’s Olympian Faiqa Riaz completed the distance in 11.7 seconds, earning the title of Pakistan’s fastest female athlete. HEC’s Khawla Umar claimed silver, while Army’s Taimoor Khan secured bronze.

The athletics event at Pakistan Navy Sports Complex also showcased the javelin throw, where Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem captured gold with a throw of 81.81 meters. Yasir Sultan took silver, and Abrar won bronze. In the women’s pole vault, Noorain Hussain, representing Pakistan Army, won gold with a jump of 2.90 meters.

Other notable victories included WAPDA’s Maria in the women’s 10,000 meters, Army’s Talha Saleem in the steeplechase, Navy’s Ansar Abbas in the long jump, WAPDA’s Noreen Fatima in the women’s high jump, Army’s Jamshed Ali in the men’s shot put, and Muhammad Akhtar in the men’s 5,000 meters.

The athletics segment of the National Games will continue on Tuesday with 12 more gold medals up for grabs.
