MUMBAI (Lord Media): Indian filmmaker Shakeel Noorani, aged 73, has been arrested by Mumbai police on charges of rape and blackmail. The arrest followed a complaint by a 33-year-old actress.
The actress alleged that Noorani repeatedly sexually exploited her and used videos to blackmail her. She claims that as a result of his actions, she suffered a miscarriage.
Following the complaint, police launched a search for Noorani and arrested him in Maharashtra’s Satara district after several raids. Police stated that Noorani had been evading arrest for approximately 40 days.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandeep Ghughe confirmed the arrest and stated that investigations are ongoing. Noorani has been charged under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
Shakeel Noorani is a well-known name in the Indian film industry, having directed films like ‘Bade Dilwala’ in 1999 and ‘Joru Ka Ghulam’ in 2000. His lawyer has dismissed the allegations as baseless. Police are currently interrogating Noorani.
