MUZAFFARABAD (Lord Media): The third and final phase of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly elections has commenced, with polling underway in four key constituencies of Poonch Division’s Bagh and Haveli districts. The voting, which began in the morning, will continue uninterrupted until 5 PM to ensure all citizens can cast their votes.
A total of 72 candidates are contesting in these four constituencies, including the current Prime Minister and two former Prime Ministers, adding intrigue to the electoral battle.
Voting is taking place in three constituencies of Bagh district and one in Haveli, while elections in other constituencies have been postponed.
In constituency LA-14 Bagh, 21 candidates, including former Prime Minister Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan, are in the fray. In LA-15 Bagh, 20 candidates, including former Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, are contesting, while 22 candidates are competing in LA-16.
In constituency LA-17 Haveli, the current Prime Minister Faisal Rathore is among 9 candidates. The presence of the leaders of the Muslim Conference and IPP has intensified the political atmosphere.
The Chief Election Commissioner has stated that strict security arrangements have been made for 460,000 voters.
In the first two phases, PML-N secured 24 seats and PPP won 10 seats. Today’s election results will play a crucial role in shaping the future government of Azad Kashmir.
