KARACHI (Lord Media): Negotiations between the federal government and the All Pakistan Goods Transport Alliance have commenced amid the ongoing nationwide strike by goods transporters. Representing the federal government in the talks are Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan, Minister for Petroleum Pervez Ali Malik, the Minister for Ports and Shipping, and representatives from the Ministry of Finance.
The All Pakistan Goods Transport Alliance is represented by its President Malik Shehzad Awan and other leaders. The strike, which has entered its third day, has left goods transporters’ vehicles from Karachi to Chitral parked on roads.
In Malakand Division, Dir Chitral Highway, Chakdara Motorway, and Swat, transport activities have come to a halt. Transport leaders report that hundreds of vehicles loaded with fruits and vegetables have been stationary for three days, disrupting business activities and supply chains.
Transporters have warned that if their demands are not met, the strike will continue indefinitely. Discussions between the government and the transport alliance are ongoing, focusing on demands and the potential end to the strike.
