Sinner withdraws from Cincinnati Open due to injury

NEW YORK (Lord Media): World number one tennis star Jannik Sinner has withdrawn from the Cincinnati Open due to a knee injury. The 24-year-old Sinner, who won his fifth Grand Slam last month by defeating Alexander Zverev in the Wimbledon final, has not played any matches since.

However, he is hopeful of being fit in time for the US Open. Sinner stated that despite the medical team’s efforts, he is not ready to compete in Cincinnati due to pain in his right knee. He expressed disappointment over the withdrawal and mentioned that his focus is now on preparing for the US Open.

The main draw of the Cincinnati Open will begin on August 13, with the final scheduled for August 23. Carlos Alcaraz will also miss the tournament due to a wrist injury. The US Open is set to take place in New York from August 30 to September 13.
