US imposes new sanctions on Iran’s shipping network

WASHINGTON (Lord Media): The United States has intensified economic pressure on Iran by announcing new sanctions against the Iranian shipping network. According to the U.S. Department of the Treasury, these measures target a network allegedly assisting Iran in evading oil sale sanctions.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Besant stated that the department is dismantling the Iranian government’s dangerous financial structures. The sanctions target the network of Mohammad Hossein Shamkhani, which could pose a threat to U.S. national security and global maritime shipping.

These new sanctions are a continuation of those imposed in April and actions taken last year. The Treasury Department reported that over 200 individuals, entities, and vessels associated with Mohammad Hossein Shamkhani’s network have been sanctioned.

Under these sanctions, the assets of designated individuals and entities in the U.S. will be frozen, and American citizens and companies will be prohibited from conducting any business with them. Iran’s mission to the United Nations has not immediately responded to the matter.
