Unique celestial event as Kaaba’s shadow vanishes today

MAKKAH (Lord Media): A unique astronomical event will occur in Saudi Arabia today as the sun will align directly over the Kaaba, causing its shadow to completely disappear. According to the Jeddah Astronomical Society, this phenomenon will take place at 12:26:44 PM local time in Makkah. At this moment, the sun will be positioned at a 90-degree angle directly above the Kaaba, resulting in the near elimination of shadows from vertical objects.

Astronomers state that this event holds special significance for Muslims worldwide. Individuals in regions experiencing daylight at that time can verify the accurate direction of the Qibla by observing the sun’s position, as it will align precisely with the Qibla direction.

Majid Abu Zahra, head of the Jeddah Astronomical Association, noted that the first instance of the sun aligning vertically over the Kaaba this year occurred on May 27 at 12:18 PM local time in Makkah.

Experts explain that the sun aligns directly over the Kaaba twice a year, once at the end of May and again in mid-July. This natural astronomical phenomenon is due to the tilt of the Earth’s axis and the apparent north-south movement of the sun.

This unique astronomical sight is not only of scientific interest but also considered an important and memorable occasion for Muslims worldwide.
