Yemeni forces target Sanaa airport runway

SANAA (Lord Media): Yemeni forces targeted the runway at Sanaa airport to prevent an Iranian aircraft, led by Houthi rebels, from landing. According to the Yemeni government, this action was in response to the Houthi rebels blocking Yemen’s national airline planes from landing in Sanaa. The Houthi movement has blamed Saudi Arabia for these attacks and threatened retaliatory measures.

The Yemeni government accused the Houthis of allowing the Iranian plane to land, violating Yemeni sovereignty. In this regard, the Yemeni Ministry of Defense instructed airport staff and civilians to evacuate the airport vicinity.

This latest tension in Yemen arises after the Houthis accused Saudi Arabia of targeting the Iranian aircraft. Yemeni Defense Minister Mohsen al-Daeri stated that the government’s patience has run out and all available resources will be used against any future violations.

It is noteworthy that the ongoing civil war in Yemen has led the United Nations to declare it the worst humanitarian crisis of the 21st century. A temporary ceasefire was achieved in 2022, but recent events have reignited tensions in the region.
