Afghan children face severe food crisis

KABUL (Lord Media): Afghanistan is grappling with a severe food crisis, affecting 90% of children, according to a recent UNICEF report. The organization has issued an emergency alert, highlighting widespread food insecurity, poor health, and lack of clean water as major contributors to the crisis.

UNICEF’s survey reveals that approximately 3.7 million Afghan children are suffering from acute food insecurity. Among them, 90% are unable to access the essential nutrients required for healthy growth in their daily diet.

Alarmingly, 85% of children in need of immediate treatment and supplementary nutrition are under the age of two. The rate of physical weakness and emaciation is higher in girls compared to boys.

Due to this severe food shortage, the risks of child mortality and physical weakness have increased sixfold, which is extremely concerning.
