79 drug samples in Sindh found substandard

KARACHI (Lord Media): Sindh’s Drug Testing Laboratory has declared 79 samples of various allopathic, herbal medicines, and syringes as substandard and counterfeit. The laboratory released a testing report for samples collected between January and July 13, revealing that 79 out of 2461 samples did not meet the required standards.

According to the report, 30 auto-disable syringes were found to be substandard. These syringes are intended for single use, but some were not fully auto-disable, posing a risk of reuse.

Director of Sindh Drug Testing Laboratory, Dr. Syed Adnan Rizvi, stated that using the same syringe on different patients increases the risk of infection. Standard auto-disable syringes help prevent the spread of HIV, hepatitis, and other diseases.

The report also highlighted that 20 herbal products in Sindh contained allopathic ingredients, while 9 medicines were not registered with the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan.
