Defense minister criticizes Fazl’s remarks

ISLAMABAD (Lord Media): Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has condemned recent statements by Maulana Fazlur Rehman, calling them an insult to the sacrifices of martyrs. In a statement, Asif expressed that more responsibility in word choice is expected from a prominent politician like Fazl. He stated that linking soldiers’ sacrifices for the nation to their salaries is unjust and hurts the martyrs and their families.

The defense minister further emphasized that no one sacrifices their life merely for a salary; it is driven by ideology, faith, duty, and commitment to the homeland. While one may disagree with circumstances, disrespecting the sacrifice is unacceptable.

Asif highlighted that the war against terrorism continues, with soldiers and civilians from the military and other institutions offering their lives. To attribute their sacrifice to financial compensation is a display of moral insensitivity.

He added that Maulana Fazl’s remarks have not only targeted an institution but have also hurt the sentiments of thousands of martyrs, veterans, widows, and orphans.
