Protests in occupied Kashmir, dozens detained by Indian forces

SRINAGAR (Lord Media): Indian forces have detained dozens of Kashmiris and suspended several social media accounts following a procession in memory of martyr Khamenei in occupied Kashmir. After anti-U.S. protests in Srinagar and other districts, the local government has imposed security restrictions and banned protest demonstrations.

Police used force to disperse protesters at several locations and arrested many individuals. Authorities have also announced the closure of educational institutions until March 7. Member of the Assembly Tanveer Sadiq expressed concern over the arrest of minors and demanded their release.

A case has been filed against Member of Parliament Agha Ruhullah and former Mayor Junaid Azim Matoo for inciting violence and disturbing public order. These leaders had shared images of the protests on social media.

Social media accounts of prominent English newspapers Greater Kashmir, Kashmir Life, and Rising Kashmir have also been suspended. Kashmir Life cited a statement from Meta, stating that the action was taken under India’s Information Technology Act.

Political circles have termed these restrictions as a curb on the constitutional freedom of expression.
