FCC bars judicial interference in New Gaj Dam project

ISLAMABAD (Lord Media): The Federal Constitutional Court has issued a verdict in the New Gaj Dam construction case, prohibiting any court from interfering in the project. The 17-page decision states that this directive is aimed at ensuring the project’s timely completion.

The ruling, authored by Chief Justice Aminuddin Khan, nullifies previous High Court orders, stating they did not consider the law. The decision emphasizes resolving disputes according to WAPDA and NAB laws.

The court declared that matters related to the dam’s construction will be handled as per the agreed procedures, adhering to constitutional boundaries.

The Federal Constitutional Court expressed hope that all parties will work in accordance with the agreement and instructed WAPDA to resolve contractor complaints within 15 days. In case of contractor violations, WAPDA may issue new tenders under its laws.
