The family further stated that his death was sudden, although he had fully recovered from cancer and lived with dignity until the end. In 2023, Sam Neill revealed he had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma but had recovered following modern treatment.
Born in Northern Ireland in 1947, Sam Neill moved to New Zealand during his childhood. He began his artistic journey in theatre and later gained prominence in the Australian and Hollywood film industries.
