ISLAMABAD (Lord Media): Monsoon rains continue across various parts of the country, affecting regions in Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Low-lying areas are submerged, flash floods have occurred, and infrastructure has been damaged. Relevant authorities have issued alerts, while the Meteorological Department has forecast more rain in the next 24 hours.
In Punjab, heavy rains have flooded low-lying areas in Shakargarh, Farooqabad, Hafizabad, Nankana Sahib, and other regions. In Khanewal, power supply was disrupted as feeders tripped during the rain.
In Gilgit-Baltistan’s Diamer district, severe rain and cloudburst have caused flash floods, wreaking havoc. Several connecting bridges and roads have been washed away, and landslides have trapped thousands of locals and tourists.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has issued a high alert, advising citizens to avoid unnecessary travel.
The Meteorological Department has predicted further rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, while Karachi is expected to experience humid weather with light drizzle.
