Pakistan names 36-member Glasgow Games squad

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will participate in the Glasgow Commonwealth Games with a 36-member contingent, featuring athletes in athletics, boxing, gymnastics, judo, lawn bowls and swimming.

The Glasgow Games are scheduled to be held from July 23 to August 2, where Pakistani players will compete for medals in various disciplines.

The athletics squad includes Faika Riaz, Amina Tabassum, Noreen Hussain, Arshad Nadeem, Muhammad Akhtar, Muhammad Ismail and Yasir Sultan. Faryal Farooq, Ashraf Ali and Salman Butt will accompany the athletics team as coaches.

In boxing, Afzal Khan, Fatima Zahra, Maleeka Zahid, Qudratullah and Somama Rehman have been selected to represent Pakistan.

Shehzad Ali will compete in gymnastics, while Khalid Mahmood will serve as coach. The lawn bowls team comprises Maqsood Waseem Khan and Muhammad Ayub Qureshi.

Pakistan’s swimming contingent includes Hamza Asif, Hareem Malik, Jahan Ara Nabi and Ahmed Durrani, who will aim to secure medals for the country
