ZURICH (Lord Media): FIFA has addressed the controversy surrounding the Egypt-Argentina match. Chief Refereeing Officer Pierluigi Collina stated that referees’ decisions are not influenced by anyone, including FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
According to FIFA, Marwan Attia’s step on Lisandro Martinez’s foot was a clear foul, and the VAR decision was correct. The contact between Mohamed Salah and Julian Alvarez was deemed normal football contact and not a foul.
FIFA clarified that VAR can review any stage of play leading up to a goal, with no time or distance limitations.
