Karachi restricts rickshaws without meters

KARACHI (Lord Media): DIG Traffic Karachi, Pir Muhammad Shah, announced that only rickshaws equipped with meters will be allowed to operate in the city. He stated that a decision has been made to ban various types of rickshaws.

Speaking at the Karachi Press Club, DIG Pir Muhammad Shah mentioned that citizens are facing issues with e-challan, and a policy is being developed to address these problems. He noted that e-challans are auto-generated, which can lead to errors.

He further explained that efforts are underway to remove Qingqi rickshaws from main roads, and the operation of meter-equipped rickshaws has improved traffic flow. Last year, heavy traffic resulted in the loss of 164 lives.

The DIG also revealed that 45,000 vehicles have yet to be transferred to their original owners, and several individuals have been detained in this regard.
