NEW YORK (Lord Media): Pakistan has called for effective and indiscriminate global measures to end sexual violence in conflicts at the United Nations Security Council. Pakistan’s Permanent Representative, Aamir Iftikhar Ahmed, stated that sexual violence is not an inevitable consequence of war but is used as a weapon of fear, coercion, and collective punishment.
Aamir Iftikhar Ahmed emphasized that such crimes destroy victims’ lives, shatter families, and leave lasting scars on societies. He urged the Security Council to ensure equal accountability in situations of armed conflict and foreign occupation.
The ambassador stressed the necessity of providing medical, psychological, legal, and economic support to victims, stating that restoring justice and dignity is a shared responsibility of the international community.
Pakistan also highlighted the need to strengthen women’s protection systems and fully implement international humanitarian law.
