TEHRAN (Lord Media): Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian expressed gratitude to Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his delegation for attending the condolence ceremonies of the late Supreme Leader. He referred to Pakistan as a brotherly nation on the social media platform ‘X’, appreciating the Pakistani government’s and people’s expressions of sympathy.
President Pezeshkian thanked Shehbaz Sharif, the Pakistani delegation, and the public for their sincere condolences, stating that Iran will never forget this support. He further emphasized that Iran and Pakistan have always supported each other during challenging times.
The Iranian President expressed hope that the deep ties between the two nations would continue to strengthen. He noted that the late Supreme Leader held a special interest in the government and people of Pakistan, considering the cultural closeness of the two nations as a shared asset.
Last week, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Asim Munir, and a Pakistani delegation attended the condolence ceremonies for Iran’s former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei. The delegation included National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Bilawal Bhutto, and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.
According to Iranian media, the late Supreme Leader Seyyed Ali Khamenei will be buried in his hometown of Mashhad within the premises of the Imam Reza shrine. His funeral prayer was held at the Imam Hussein shrine in Karbala, with his body transported from Najaf to Karbala.
