Lawrence Bishnoi indicted over Hardeep Nijjar killing

Washington (Lord Media): U.S. authorities have charged Lawrence Bishnoi, leader of the Indian criminal group Bishnoi gang, in the murder case of Sikh separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada. Officials allege that Bishnoi and his associate Satinderjit Singh, known as Goldy Brar, planned Nijjar’s murder in 2023. While Bishnoi is currently imprisoned, Brar remains at large.

According to the indictment, Bishnoi orchestrated the operation from an Indian jail using smuggled mobile phones, providing Nijjar’s photo and address. U.S. Attorney Bill Essley stated at a press conference that the indictment is part of an international operation involving agencies from the U.S., Canada, and Europe, resulting in the arrest of 37 suspects.

The press conference was attended by officials from the FBI, Los Angeles Police, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Patrick Grandi, Assistant Director of the FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office, mentioned that these groups have promoted violence and instability within the Eastern Indian community in California and other areas.

Authorities are still searching for 10 fugitives, with one believed to be in Europe, seven in the U.S., and two in India. Following Nijjar’s murder, relations between Canada and India became strained, with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stating that credible evidence suggested Indian government involvement.
