Lahore (Lord Media): Aamir Sarfaraz, also known as Aamir Tanba, a key figure in the 2013 prison attack on Indian spy Sarabjit Singh, has passed away. Aamir Tanba was acquitted by the court and had survived an assassination attempt by unidentified individuals in 2024.
Sources indicate that Aamir Tanba had been ill for some time and died during treatment at a hospital. He was one of the two individuals accused of attacking Sarabjit Singh.
Sarabjit Singh was arrested in 1990 for crossing the Pakistani border and was accused of bomb blasts in Pakistan that killed 14 people.
Sarabjit Singh was sentenced to death in 1991 and remained imprisoned for two decades until he died following a fatal attack in jail in 2013.
A Lahore court acquitted Aamir Tanba in December 2018. In April 2024, unidentified individuals fired at him.
In 2024, the Federal Interior Minister claimed that India was involved in the attack on Aamir Tanba. A film has been made in India about Sarabjit Singh’s murder, which overlooks certain facts.
