Hamas transfers Gaza administration to committee

Gaza (Lord Media): Hamas has dissolved its government, established nearly two decades ago, transferring Gaza’s administrative powers to the ‘National Committee for the Administration of Gaza’. The organization states this move aims to ensure a peaceful transfer of power and eliminate Israel’s justification for aggression.

According to Hamas’s official media office, the head of the Emergency Committee, Muhammad Al-Farra, has resigned, and the committee has been dissolved. Government powers will be transferred to a technocrat committee.

Hamas announced the end of its civil administration in Gaza after 20 years. Hamas’s government in Gaza was established in 2007 after the organization took control following legislative election success.

Following a U.S.-mediated ceasefire between Hamas and Israel last October, Hamas indicated its readiness to withdraw from day-to-day governance.

The National Committee for the Administration of Gaza was established under the mediation of U.S. President Donald Trump and is led by Palestinian leader Ali Shaath.

Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem stated that the decision to relinquish governance in Gaza was made to prevent Israel from having any further pretext for aggression.

Ismail Al-Thawabteh mentioned that until the technocrat committee members formally enter Gaza and assume charge, Hamas’s current emergency committee will act as a caretaker to maintain order.

Israel has not permitted the technocrat committee members to enter Gaza, leaving the committee outside Gaza for several months.

In the first phase of the ceasefire, Hamas released Israeli hostages, while the second phase involves Hamas’s disarmament and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, though progress has stalled.
