Suspect in Group Captain murder case sent on 14-day remand

Islamabad (Lord Media): An anti-terrorism court has ordered a suspect in the murder case of Group Captain Asim Tariq to be sent to jail on a 14-day judicial remand. The court instructed that the suspect be transferred to jail for an identification parade and updated on the progress at the next hearing.

Judge Abu al-Hasanat Muhammad Zulqarnain issued the order, noting that the suspect was arrested the previous day and presented in court with a covered face. During the hearing, the special public prosecutor and the investigating officer were present with the records.

The investigating officer argued that the identification parade is essential for the investigation, leading the court to decide on the 14-day judicial remand. The court ordered that the suspect be presented again on July 20, 2026.

The court further stated that if the identification parade cannot be completed within the stipulated time, only a report should be submitted at the next hearing to continue the case proceedings.
