Fresh ethnic violence jolts India’s Manipur

Manipur (Lord Media): A fresh wave of ethnic violence has erupted in the Indian state of Manipur, leading to the torching of twenty homes in Kamjong district by unidentified attackers. Among the affected, fifteen homes in the Kuki border village of Phaymol were completely destroyed, while seven homes belonging to the Naga community suffered partial damage.

Amnesty International has criticized these riots as a failure of the Modi government, attributing the escalation to human rights violations and displacement.

Professor Ajailiu Niumai stated that the conflict, exacerbated by the negligence of the Modi administration, is more devastating than the civil strife of the 1990s, highlighting the government’s inability to maintain law and order in Manipur.
