New Jersey (Lord Media): A severe heatwave in the U.S. state of New Jersey has resulted in the deaths of 19 individuals. According to the state’s health commissioner, the deceased were found in homes without air conditioning, on streets, and inside parked vehicles.
The U.S. National Weather Service has issued extreme heat warnings affecting approximately 160 million people. New Jersey Governor Miki Sherrill warned residents that the state is experiencing its most intense heat in 14 years, urging people to stay indoors and seek air-conditioned spaces.
Scientists attribute the increasing frequency of heatwaves globally to climate change, largely driven by greenhouse gas emissions from human activities.
