U.S. Embassy marks America’s 250th Independence Day with landmark illuminations in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD (Lord Media): The U.S. Embassy in Islamabad and the U.S. Consulate General in Lahore marked the 250th anniversary of American independence by illuminating some of Pakistan’s most iconic landmarks, highlighting the longstanding ties between the United States and Pakistan.

According to a statement issued on Saturday, the U.S. Embassy illuminated the Pakistan National Monument in the colors of the American flag from July 1 to July 5 as part of the global “Freedom 250” celebrations commemorating the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Declaration of Independence.

The illumination of the National Monument was carried out in coordination with Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Capital Development Authority as a gesture of friendship between the two countries. During the five-day celebration, Globe Chowk on Constitution Avenue was also lit up in red, white, and blue.

In Lahore, the U.S. Mission coordinated the illumination of the historic Alamgiri Gate and Picture Wall at the Lahore Fort, as well as the Quaid-e-Azam Library and the National Institute of Technology to mark the occasion.

U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker said the 250th anniversary represented “a moment of renewal” for the United States and an opportunity to strengthen institutions, reaffirm leadership, and deepen partnerships based on mutual respect and reciprocity.

“With Pakistan, we are building on sovereignty, strength, and shared prosperity, translating mutual respect and aligned interests into real results,” Baker said, adding that the United States remained committed to a partnership that promotes lasting security and shared opportunities for future generations.

The statement said the illuminations form part of the U.S. Mission to Pakistan’s year-long Freedom 250 campaign, a global initiative commemorating the signing of the U.S. Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.

It added that the celebrations recognize the enduring values of freedom, democracy, and opportunity while reflecting the evolving U.S.-Pakistan relationship, which continues to expand through trade and investment, cooperation in critical minerals, economic development, and efforts to promote regional peace.
