Karachi (Lord Media): Babar Azam has been appointed as the captain of Pakistan’s Test team for the tours of West Indies and England. The announcement of the national Test squad was made by selection committee member Aqib Javed, with Asad Shafiq and former captain Misbah-ul-Haq present.
The 16-member squad includes Babar Azam, Shan Masood, Imam-ul-Haq, Aazan Awais, Abdullah Fazal, Salman Ali Agha, Ghazi Ghori, and Mohammad Rizwan.
The squad also features Sajid Khan, Ali Usman, Amir Jamal, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Abbas, Ubaid Shah, Owais Zafar, and Khurram Shehzad.
Middle-order batter Saud Shakeel is not part of the squad due to fitness issues. The Pakistan team will begin their tour with Test matches against the West Indies, starting with a warm-up match in Tarouba on July 18.
The first Test between Pakistan and the West Indies will take place from July 25 to 29 in Tarouba. Aqib Javed stated that he and Asad Shafiq have been part of the selection committee for 18 months, while Misbah-ul-Haq and Sarfaraz Ahmed joined six months ago.
