Sheikhupura (Lord Media): The Evacuee Trust Property Board has refuted reports of the alleged demolition of Gurdwara Singh Sabha in Farooqabad, asserting that the gurdwara remains intact with no demolition or new construction underway.
According to the board, the circulating social media reports are contrary to the facts. The clarification stated that the action was limited to two shops where tenants had started unauthorized construction.
The statement noted that the building has been inactive for decades and was being used for tenancy. The Sheikhupura Municipal Committee had issued notices to the tenants, but some attempted reconstruction in violation of regulations.
The Evacuee Trust Property Board took legal action by canceling the tenancies, reclaiming the property, and sealing it. Representatives of the Sikh community and the Minister for Minority Affairs visited the site and received a detailed briefing.
The board further stated that a detailed report on the matter has been sent to the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony. The Foreign Office has also confirmed the gurdwara’s safety.
