Tehran (Lord Media): Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir met Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi in Tehran, where he paid tribute to the services of Iran’s former Supreme Leader, the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Interior Minister Mohsen Naqvi was also present during the meeting.
Field Marshal Asim Munir arrived in Tehran to attend the funeral of the late Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. Upon arrival, he was received by Iran’s Interior Minister Sikandar Momeni, accompanied by Iran’s Defense Minister and senior civil and military officials.
Before meeting Abbas Araqchi, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir held discussions with Iranian Defense Minister Seyyed Majid Ibn Reza and other top military and civil leadership, where he paid homage to the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
According to Iranian media, the body of the late Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei is placed at the Grand Musalla, where delegations from over 100 countries are attending the funeral rites.
Funeral prayers will be held in Tehran from July 4 to 6 and in Qom on July 7, after which the body will be taken to Iraq. It will then be returned to Iran for burial in Mashhad.
Over ten million people are expected to participate in the funeral procession. A public holiday will be observed nationwide on July 6, and a day of mourning will be marked on July 8.
