ISLAMABAD, June 23 (LORD): Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Staff, met Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian on Tuesday and exchanged views on regional developments and ongoing peace initiatives, according to Pakistan’s military.
The meeting focused on the regional security situation, peace efforts, and bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Iran, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.
President Pezeshkian appreciated Pakistan’s constructive and responsible role in promoting dialogue, de-escalation and regional stability, particularly amid heightened geopolitical challenges in the region.
The Iranian president acknowledged Pakistan’s consistent efforts to encourage the peaceful resolution of disputes and to foster understanding among regional stakeholders.
During the meeting, Field Marshal Asim Munir reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to peace and stability in the region and emphasized the importance of continued engagement and cooperation to address shared challenges.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening Pakistan-Iran relations and maintaining close consultations on issues of mutual interest.
The two leaders also expressed their shared resolve to advance peace, prosperity and stability across the region through enhanced cooperation and dialogue.
Pakistan and Iran maintain close diplomatic, security and economic ties and regularly engage on regional and border security matters. LORD
